20L1 is very scarce on cover, and rare off cover. Bowman records only 21 examples on cover. At the time of Lebel's exhibit, only 18 were recorded.

2c Black on Green, cut to shape with red Boyd's City Express Post" oval handstamp with matching "Paid JTB." This appears to have originated in London on March 17, 1847, from "Capt. Morris" of "Baring Bros & Co."

It must have been carried outside the mails to New York. It was given to Boyd's for delivery on May 3 and answered on May 11.

2c Gold on Glazed White, full to large margins including frame lines at bottom and left, tied by smudged cancel and used with 3c Dull Red, Ty. II, tied by "New-York Feb. 6" circular datestamp on small cover with embossed border to Peekskill N.Y., 2c stamp with corner tear top right and a few light scoring lines, 3c stamp some internal wrinkling, light overall soiling, Very Fine appearance, scarce combination.

Scarce, less than 17 20L9s on cover per John Bowman.

With a PF Certificate which states " SINGLE, "PAID" IN CIRCLE CANCEL, ON LOCALLY ADDRESSED ALLOVER ENVELOPE MANUFACTURERS AD COVER, VIOLET BOYD'S CITY DISPATCH 1878 OVAL ANDSTAMP AT LEFT. AND WE ARE OF THE OPINION THAT It Is A Genuine Usage, The Stamp With A Tiny Tear At Right CENTER, AND THE COVER WITH SMALL TEARS AT TOP. " Very Fine.
