1c Black on Red, Die Cut, uncancelled, used with 2c Red Brown, tied by "Atlantic City N.J. Jun. 30, 1887 4 PM" duplex datestamp and cancel on locally-addressed cover, central vertical file fold, otherwise Fine, very rare genuine usage.

This cover, was postmarked on the last day of operation for Hackney & Bolte’s Penny Post, June 30, 1887, The following day, July 1, 1887, the federal post office introduced free mail delivery, ending the short but impactful era of private postal innovation in Atlantic City.
