Very Rare Usage, Illustrated in Richard Schwartz's article on the St. Louis Delivery Co.

1c Red, Perf 12, cancelled by grid with "St. Louis City Delivery, 506 Olive St. Jan. 16, 1883" sawtooth double-circle datestamp on mostly complete mailing card with price list printed on reverse, to local street address.

This post operated illegally for a brief period of time.

Examples of the stamp properly used are very rare. There are only 5; and one is in the British Museum's Tapling Collection.
