Pa. 5 Mar. 22" cds on 1849 folded letter from the proprietor, George Carter, with interesting content regarding accounts with the post office. Light wear and soiling along file fold, otherwise Very Fine, scarce marking.

Black G. Carter's Despatch datestamp with curved fancy "PAID" on November 30, 1849 cover discussing payment of goods for church.

According to Roth, it is very scarce to find an example of the handstamp "PAID", in any of its forms, on an envelope or folded letter which did not also bear an adhesive stamp.

Hahn records this as the last use of the "PAID" handstamp in his notes.

2c Black, Plate Variety #3 ("A" is not connected at bottom"), on cover to Pennsylvania. July 12 Philadelphia 5 cent cds, with a PF Cert which states, "SINGLE, PEN CANCEL, ON COVER TO NORRISTOWN, PA, BLUE PHILADELHIA PMK AT RIGHT. AND WE ARE OF THE OPINON THAT: IT IS A GENUINE USAGE."
